Did God actually turn people into apes for breaking the sabbath?

1 Timothy 1:4 – Neither give heed to fables... which minister questions rather than godly edifying.

1 Timothy 4:7 – refuse profane and old wives’ fables.

Al-Baqarah 2:65-66 – 65. And you know of those of you who broke the Sabbath, how We said unto them: “You shall be detested apes.” 66. We made their fate (changing into the state of detested apes) an example to their own generation and to those who followed them, and a lesson to the God-fearing.
